He nodded as if in understanding of whatever Ron had said, but it only barely registered in his mind. He felt so hollow inside, as if he had vented out all of his humanity, and there was next to none left. His eyes stared past his brother at the wreck that was his kitchen.
"I need to clean up this mess," he muttered emotionlessly. "I need it to be tidy, just in case..."
In case what, one of Penny's friends or relatives came demanding answers?
He looked back at Ron, his eyes colder than they'd been moments ago, as if he had finally built back up his inner walls. Yet they were still crumbled around his heart, he simply needed to remind his brother, to feel useful. "Penny's family is Muggle. Her things, some of them might be magical, and she might have a familiar. They can't go to her family..." He felt like such a fool, thinking of those laws at a time like this - but it was his job, wasn't it?
