Lavender was trying to be calm and explain her point, because she was already the girl with feelings who believed in divination, which didn't increase her believability.

As she spoke she started undoing the buttons and tie on her coat, needing to get at her arm more than her wand at the moment. Lavender fumbled around a moment, freeing her arm and pushing up her sleeve enough so that her stupid little mark was showing. "And because you don't have one of these."
