The moment he said it, it seemed obvious that the two were connected. Zurlo wasn't exactly a common last name around these parts and he knew first hand that there was plenty of stuff down in the Department that did all sorts of strange things. Why he hadn't seen it before was probably because he always zeroed in on the smaller details, sometimes missing the bigger picture. Eli had always been so preoccupied with breaking things down, he sometimes forgot how they could all fit together until he was forced to take a step back.
"That's what he died, I mean it had to be why he died - dozens of different ways for a man to get killed down there and any number of them could cause a chain reaction." He was very much in Eli world right now, and anyone else was either along for the ride or left behind. "Something gets broken, wards disrupted, you even open the wrong box and ... but what could it have been? Prophecies maybe?
"I mean if they are memories, which they certainly do act that way, they had to be kept somewhere, stored away." Eli shook his head. That wasn't right. He had back ups of himself stored places, or his thoughts at least, just in case, but he didn't think if they got out it would do that. "But why would they implant in other people? And what made them predisposed to becoming a vesicle?"
