Hermione's face fell again when she realized that the joke hadn't gone over quite the way she'd intended. All she wanted was to see him smile, but that was asking a lot this close to everything that had happened. Still, she'd be damned if she wasn't going to try and find a way to make him smile again, maybe not today, but some time soon.

She was glad to hear he'd missed her too, even before Harry had died. At least it wasn't just her. When he pulled her into him, she wrapped her arms around him and tucked her head under his chin. She felt infinitely better in that moment than she had all week. She'd also been offered comfort from elsewhere, but hadn't taken it. It hadn't felt right. But Ron was Ron, she'd never turn away from him, especially after she heard his next words. She felt her throat close up a bit as a few tears leaked down her cheeks. And here she thought she'd cried to the point where she wouldn't ever cry again. "I know," she whispered. "I miss him too, so much." She didn't know what to do either. She felt like she was spiralling out of control, it was only a matter of time before she crashed. "I just keep waiting to wake up from this nightmare."
