Who: Penelope, the Clearwaters and Lloyd's friends...
What: Talking about dreams and acquaintances
Where: Her aunt's flat, Manchester
When: November 7; 12:42

Penelope had finished looking over a manuscript before taking off for lunch at quarter after noon. She had luckily been able to focus that morning having had actually slept the evening before; she was working that morning as if today was just like any other day. When she finally had gotten to muggle London her cellphone had proved differently as it rang to alert her to the fact that a message had been left a few hours ago. She looked at it curiously and dialed the voicemailbox as she walked down the street. It took her only seconds to determine that it was bad news as she heard her father's voice detail what happened and where she was needed...

She dropped her phone and apparated home from the spot.

Much to the curiousity astonishment of some of the muggles who were going about their regular business.

---

What happened next had gone by in a blur. She was greeted sadly by her aunt at their flat as she had been notified that everyone was meeting in Manchester--her parents had drove in from London. Her parents had made it in from the morgue hours ago, and a few of Lloyd's friends were sitting in the kitchen with Penelope. A couple were his mates from school who lived with him. Penelope sat there relatively quietly, still feealing shaken and numb from the shock and surprise, only responding to things that needed to be responded to...if they even began to register.

Clive and Rowland had been sitting in the kitchen all morning with beer after beer in their hands. Rowland had been the one to go into Lloyd's room that morning, wanting to hear all about his mate's shag, only to find that said friend was dead.

The alcohol had helped dull the shock, but now they were in more or less a fugue state, eyes focused on the bottle labels and minds focused inward.

"Is it possible to be shagged to death?" Clive suddenly asked, seemingly out of the blue.

Penelope's mind returned from its wandering to hear Clive's unusual question. "Huh?" she asked, a bit surprised by the question. She wasn't exactly notified of that being what happened to Lloyd after all.

"Why do you ask?"

Clive shrugged and blushed a little. "Well, I don't really mean shagged to death. I guess I was just thinking that at least Lloyd got one last shag in before he went. I saw her coming out last night. Not much of a looker, but she screamed like a banshee. Must've been right brilliant in the sack."

Rowland smacked Clive in the shoulder. "Shut up, she doesn't want to hear about that shite. He was her bloody brother." He looked at her apologetically. "Sorry, Penelope."

Penelope couldn't help but think about the stuff she's heard in class about the banshees--her mind was off-track for a moment. It was rather fitting that it'd be described as such.

"You didn't know who she was?" she asked. "Just that--maybe she'd know a bit more about--I don't know, she probably left too soon to know anything," she said with a sigh, her eyes just focussed on a single tile on the floor.

Clive shrugged. "Well, I tried to get her to stay for another shag, but she told me to feck off."

Rowland glared at Clive. "You're really disgusting, you know that? Bird comes out of your dead friend's room, and you try to pick her up?"

"Hey, I didn't know he was dead! We don't even know if he was dead at the time! It obviously wasn't serious if she was sneaking out before midnight. What, I'm not allowed to get laid around here?"

Rowland turned away from Clive, as if unable to look at him any longer. "Sorry about this idiot, Pen. I was out with Lloyd last night-"

"Cougar hunting," Clive snapped in.

"-and we met these two birds. I think the one he was with was named Jane or something. I got her cousin's number though, so we can probably find her if you want me to."

Penelope ignored most of what Clive had to say, as he wasn't particularly helpful. Well not for her nerves at least.

"Jane, and she's a bit older," she said, trying to ascertain some of the information. "And her cousin was there with her--with you?"

Rowland nodded. "Millie's about 36, I think she said her cousin was a year or two older. Nice ladies, the kind that work their arses off all day and just wanted to have a little fun." He shrugged.

"I see," Penelope said, feeling uncomfortable in prying into Lloyd's last evening. For a moment she considered letting it drop, but then changed her mind for some reason.

"Maybe it'd help to gain some closure to talk to her, at least," she said with a shrug, unsure of whether it would help--unsure of whether anything would help.

"I'll see what I can do," Rowland said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder and squeezing a moment before letting go.
