Second time's the charm
Characters: Angie and Penny
Setting: Diagon Alley, by Whizz Hard Books, near to Obscurus Books as well. (I thought Penny might be more inclined to Obscurus, not Whizz Hard). Wednesday Nov 5th, around 10 AM
Summary: Angie never made it over to Whizz Hard the day before, so she's going back now, and runs into Penelope Clearwater
Rating: Worksafe

Angie had intended, yesterday, to buy a pair of goggles and look at a few new sports books. Instead, she'd run into Michael Corner, had a grand time, and wound up buying a new broom she didn't truly need but really wanted. She also never made it over to the bookstore.

So she was giving it another go today, and Apparated just outside, trying to give herself less time and space to be distracted. That wasn't to be though because once there, she sidestepped a harried morther with three children all too young to go to Hogwarts, and all too energetic for mid-morning. While she waited for them to pass, she looked up and noticed a somewhat familiar face. She hadn't known Penelope Clearwater very well, but she knew her enough to recognise her, and was polite enough to call out a hello.

Angie smiled. "It's all right, I can't expect everyone to be a fan watching my every move. it'd make getting around a bit dicey, yeah?" Coming close so she could speak more conversationally, Angie replied, "Had a blood brilliant season actually. Worked like a well oiled machine. I'm already counting down the days 'til next season." Not that that was surprising.

"What about you? What's keeping you so busy you can't follow quidditch," she teased.

"I've been well. I guess I hadn't been around until recently. Then again--I guess it's been almost a year since I've started for Obscurus. Time just seems to fly right by," Penelope said, sort of but not really alluding to her absence from the magical world. She did enjoy watching the sport since she started at Hogwarts. Nothing brought the House or school together closer. She had many a fond memory watching games and cheering enough so that she was hoarse the next day.

"I mean to keep up with it sometime though. Maybe once things settle down a bit--it's been rather busy during the last season. I missed watching quidditch back in Hogwarts though. I've seen the game at Harry's memorial--actually you were playing there, weren't you?"

"Obscurus? Oh right, the book publisher, of course. What do you do there?" Angie wasn't sure why she felt the need to keep up conversation; perhaps because it was just something...normal, and she really needed normal.

"Well I you need a team to support once you get back into it," Angie grinned, "might I suggest the Holyhead Harpies? Ginny Weasley and I are both chasers." Speaking of Ginny... "Yeah I played. I couldn't not play, you know? It seemed like the right sendoff for Harry." Though she wished there hadn't had to be one at all.

"I'm an editor for Obscurus. I do write my own books too, and the occasional substitute help column for Witch's Weekly and some stuff for the Prophet." It was true that she spent a lot of time dabbling in different types of writing, but had ultimately had spent most of her days working.

"I should make more of an effort to do something that isn't work. Maybe I will get back into it next season. And I promise you that I will come out and cheer for Holyhead harpies."

"Wow you do quite a bit of writing then," Angie replied. Angie realised not very much of what either of them did overlapped much into the other's world. Angie wasn't too much of a reader - with some exceptions - and Penny didn't get out much to follow Quidditch.

"Well if I could entice you with tickets, let me know. I can usually get some really good seats for friends and family." Angie tilted her head. "I don't suppose you ever have any thing to do with any sports-themed books do you?"

"Thanks," Penelope replied--surprised at the offer. "I'll certainly let you know."

"And I do edit a few sports-themed books, more or less guides to take care of brooms, how-to-play guides, and the history of various games. That sort of stuff," Penelope said, thinking of the most recent projects.

"You do?" Angie perked up. "Well then in that case feel free to let me know about anything new I should be looking to buy, yeah? I actually like sports history books, especially anything about either how the games have changed since they were first created or all the barmy things that've gone on that people don't know about."

Books. Sports books. Isn't that what she was supposed to be buying right now? "Speaking of, I'm on my way over to Whizz Hard at the moment...unless you know of something I should be buying at Obscurus instead?" Her lips curved up in a smile.
