It took him a couple of minutes to collect himself enough to respond to speak. In that time he watched her gather her things. He wondered at how much of the person behind the mask actually enjoyed their encounter and how much of it was an act. If she didn't at least enjoy some of it, she would've been a better liar than he was. Another thought passed about why a would person persist at a job where they were permanently at risk for shame--if that were something that they feared above all. He could closely identify with some aspect of that, except that he was sensible enough to quit when his fears were close enough to being realized.
He nodded at her request. "I doubt I'm here enough for him to ask, but should that ever be the case, I'm fairly sure that I am a rather apt liar," Theodore said, finding his footing once more. And checking that she had gathered all of her things and put on her robe, he held the curtain open for her. He can be decent and respectful if he wanted to be, after all.
