"I don't think he's around here, so you'll have to settle with me." He wasn't typically 'knight in shining armour' material, and he wasn't going to lie about it.
When she disrobed, he had just realized how lucky he was. It almost had made up for the disturbing experience of earlier that night, and at the very least was temporarily distracting. Very distracting.
