Entry tags:!status: complete, ^date: october 30 2003, character: cho chang

Who: Cho
What: A fight for her life
When: around 1:00 am October 30, 2003
Where: Chang Cottage Hogsmeade

Cho was wired when she had gotten home around 11:30. She had worked a late shift after being called out to a costume shop in Muggle London. Some fool had come into the shop and charmed the fake hands so they actually came off their pedestals and grope at the customers. When word had come down from the department that monitored the Muggle news networks she had taken off with someone from the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts department and an Oblivator. Thankfully, the location had security cameras which would make tracking down the perpetrator much easier. They confiscated the footage from the day and Cho took it back to the room on the exterior of the Ministry designed to allow Muggle contraptions to work and pored over the footage. It didn't take long to determine that two younger wizards, both looking fresh out of Hogwarts, had been the likely culprits. She had contacted Headmistress McGonagall who had no problem identifying the young men as they had been regulars in detention.

Now that she was home, the adrenaline from hunting for them well into the evening was still kicking. Cho sat up and flipped through the most recently released book of Tutshill game photos. As she looked at the pictures she was reminded of her own days on the pitch and how lucky she had been to have those times with Cedric. A feeling of sadness washed over her. She looked over at the clock. It was about 1 am and she had to report to work again in a few hours.

Just as she laid down, Cho heard a rattling behind the shutters of the window in the sitting room. "Damn boggarts," she muttered grabbing her wand. When winter began its approach the creatures always left their tree nooks for the warmth of a witch of wizard home. Before opening the shutter she summoned up images of the Yule Ball and Cedric kissing her ever so softly. Slowly she opened the door, "Riddikulus," she pointed at the Death Eater standing in the window. But instead of evaporating into nothing, it shot back and flung the window open before climbing into the cottage. This was obviously not a Boggart.

Cho immediately sent one of several well versed curses at the individual who was advancing upon her. She watched as it went right through them without any effect. Suddenly, the green light of the killing curse emitted from the end of the wand. As she dodged, Cho heard the front door bang open and three more Death Eaters entered, each casting varied curses in her direction. She tumbled and rolled knocking over the lamp on the end table that her father had given their mother for their third anniversary. She fired her own defensive spells and curses each making their mark but going right through. Finally, they had her cornered and there was no where left for her to run. Then as suddenly as they had appeared, the Death Eaters were gone.

Wide awake, she sat in the corner, wand at the ready awaiting their return.
