Sliding callused fingers across the smooth edge, he slipped one in between and held it there for a second. One visible eye widened ever so slightly, taking in everything it was seeing. He slowly slid a second finger to join the first as he eyes neared them. A slight blush formed, gratefully under the mask and away from sight, as his heart rate increased. Tensing, he held his breath suddenly as his grip tightened. With a sharp yell he slammed his current book against the door next to where he was sitting creating a loud clap of noise. All the annoying Fairies dropped back into unconsciousness to his liking. Huffing in annoyance he flipped back to the page he had been almost finished reading.
That morning the music had finally stopped, promising some peaceful quality reading time and maybe even some sleep. But the fairy things were still there. Everywhere. In his room, the living room, the lobby, outside, even on the fucking roof! He couldn’t find any place not crawling with the chattering things. Giving up on escaping them, for the past hour or so he just dealt with them instead. Having moved a chair away from the small table and next to the door, he found that if he slammed his book against it, it made a loud enough bang in the echoy room to cause the things to faint. The unfortunate set bad to the current situation was his seating location and his left hand was starting to get sore from all the banging. He suspected it was going to be bruised by the morning.
Peeking over the pages, he saw they were all still staying on the floor. Good, he could relax a bit longer. Maybe even get through his favorite chapter before they stated harassing him again. Settling back against the chair, he went back to reading the juicy material not knowing the Fairies were the least of his interruption worries.
