Smiling, well as much of a smile as she usually could manage which was much more of a guarded expression than a true smile, she reached out and took his hand. For a moment she admired the way his caramel colored skin contrasted against her own pasty white. She rather liked the difference. Giving him a firm handshake she released him, never really good with touching or being touched, but she didn’t really mind that simple gesture. Though with him closer now she felt a little nervous, men made her nervous… her father had conditioned her that way. Olivia did her best not to show it because for whatever weird and unexplainable reason she liked Jett. At least the first impression of him.
Wrapping her arms around her knees once more she couldn’t help but look at the symbol he wore around his neck again. She wanted to touch the amulet, examine it… she suffered from being way too curious about things that couldn’t easily be explained. Quietly she asked, “What does your necklace mean?” Blinking at her brazenness she laughed and shook her head, “Sorry, don’t mean to pry. Its just really cool. Never mind.” Shrugging she looked back to the ocean, she was shit with conversation and people. It really was amazing that she managed to work the reception desk at the resort at all, it required her to interact with people on a regular basis. The only thing was, there she could put on a fake persona and pretend because she had to. It was infinitely harder when she was herself… which was why she usually went invisible and avoided people all together.
Olivia’s eyes were draw out to Baptiste Island once more. Nodding at his cryptic words, “yeah… wonder how much is bullshit and how much is truth.” There were a slew of legends that surrounded the family, the island, and the house itself. Which just added to the mystery and draw of Pala as far as tourists were concerned.
Resting her chin on her knees again she looked at him, regarding him quietly for a moment before nodding. “I’d never look back, never regret getting the hell out of here.” Making a face, scrunching up her nose she looked away. She hadn’t meant for this random conversation with a total stranger to get so personal. Softly she added, “yeah… that bad…” Clearing her throat she unfolded her arms from around her knees and stretched her legs out, putting her hands behind her she mimicked his pose. Trying to push the focus off of her she asked, “You’d stay here then? You know if you had loads of cash.”
