Martha barked a short, sharp laugh at his statement. Because it was hard. And Martha had yet to hit on the proper way to describe what it was like. But the Universe had been at stake. Not just Earth. Not just humanity. The whole Universe. It was her duty, special ops training or not.
She continued. "I got a job. Somehow the pushed my training and certification through and I became a medical officer for UNIT, the alien research organization on my homeworld. I spent a few months there. Started dating a guy... a guy who actually saved my life but doesn't remember it... Things were going OK."
Up until the point the Castle kidnapped her. And Martha launched back into her storytelling powers. In fact, Martha was quite good at telling stories. Something to do with her life depending on it for over a year. She explained that first castle... how she ran into Eddie that first day. How one of her only other friends ended up dead and how things went down hill. How the castle changed. And how she ended up unconscious only to wake up tied to a chair an in a torture session. From the man who she had stopped a year before.
"You came in right around then."
And that was only the second of all the awful things that happened.
