"Uh..." Brenner was mortified to hear his voice crack, something it hadn't done for years, and all Nadi had done was kiss his cheek! "Erm... let's gan yem te mine, and put me things away?"

His nerves were jingling and jangling and it was all he could do to pick up the bag of things with one hand. Boldly (and holding his breath the whole time) he reached out and took her hand, looking at her with questioning eyes. After all... she had been talking about marrying him. He guessed that she wouldn't mind a little hand holding.

"It's just a wee walk around the corner," he assured her.
