Buffy wasn't keen when big books were placed in front of her. It made her recollect the first day she attended school in Sunnydale, when Giles had pushed the huge Vampire book at her. Just when she thought she had a chance at 'normal'. And since then, big books were always around - always researching a demon or a vampire cult. The book dropped into her lap heavily but she didn't jump or cringe.
It was the kind of book she recognized. Which is exactly what she was afraid of. Scary illustrations and big words, some in Latin. Never good. Buffy had never heard of a Hell hound, and Giles had never mentioned one. She wanted to give kudos to the guys to telling her what had happened. But she was a bit caught up in trying to figure out what these hounds were. She was reading the page. Actually from hell? Great.
Buffy also wasn't aware of deals like this. But it was her type of thing. So that was at least something. "So...he sold his soul?" When she said it out loud it almost sounded funny. Except when she realized it was true. He had done it. And he hadn't been able to stop it.
"I believe you." She looked up to Bobby. "Haven't seen this particular book before, but I've seen enough like it." She stood up, handing the book over to Sam gently. "I'm not so good with the book part. But I am good with the other part." Maybe she wasn't very clear about that. They looked confuse. "...The kicking ass part. Killing demons, trapping werewolves, dusting vampires...I'm The Slayer." They were into this stuff, so she was hoping they'd know what she was talking about. At least the older guy.
