Tuesday 17th was a full moon.
Tuesday 17th was Pancake day!
Wednesday 18th was Ash Wednesday.
On Friday the names are released of the suspected Gringotts bank robbers: Amycus and Alecto Carrow.
On Saturday Anteros sends in the lawyers.
On Sunday Amycus and Alecto are released on bail.
Muggle news:
On Monday 16th, the Kyoto Protocol went into effect, without the support of the United States and Australia.
On Monday 16th, the pro-fox hunting lobby Countryside Alliance loses an appeal. The Court of Appeals does not accept their claim that the Parliament Act 1949, used to introduce the Hunting Act 2004, is invalid.
On Wednesday 18th the Hunting Act 2004, the ban on hunting with dogs, comes into force. Its opponents intend to challenge the law and hunt.

On Wednesday 18th it is discovered that the tsunami resulting from the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake uncovered an ancient city near the coastal town of Mahabalipuram in India.
On Saturday, The Daily Prophet contains an article discussing the feasibility (i.e. none at all) of sterilising muggles. It asks the question, what else can we do to avoid being overrun with muggles?
On Sunday 22nd more than 500 people are killed and over 1,000 injured, after entire villages are flattened in an earthquake (6.4 on the Richter scale) in the Zarand region of Kerman province in southern Iran. Of these, almost 50 of the killed are witches and wizards.
