Last week was Christmas, if you didn’t notice. 26th was Boxing Day, which is basically an excuse to extend Christmas day. Also on the 26th, in muggle news, Time magazine's Man of the Year is given for the first time to a non-human, the computer.

Tuesday is New Year’s Eve.
Wednesday is New Year’s Day.
Muggle news: on Wednesday the migration of the ARPANET to TCP/IP is officially completed. This is later considered to be the beginning of the true Internet.
On Thursday Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange are spotted in Italy. This is reported in The Daily Prophet on Friday.

Muggle news: On Tuesday 31st British Airways Flight 223, a Boeing 747-400 flying from London Heathrow to Washington Dulles, is escorted into Dulles Airport by F-16 fighter jets after intelligence reports of terrorists trying to board the jet and use it in a terrorist attack. On Friday Flash Airlines Flight 604 crashes into the Red Sea off the coast of Egypt, killing all 148 aboard. On Saturday NASA's MER-A (Spirit) lands on Mars at 04:35 UTC.
Also on Saturday, Voldemort announces to the DE which country they’ll be invading first (Somalia). He also asks for volunteers, but if he doesn’t get enough he is going to send people who didn’t volunteer anyway, so don’t think you’re safe yet.
