Royce wasn't the only person in the world to ever care about her. But he was the only one around right now that did. There was still guilt lingering from her brought-up memories earlier but she tried pushing it away and focusing instead on the smell of food that was now rushing out into the rest of an apartment.
Mmmm, she was drooling just over the scent. She licked her lips several times, then swallowed. Royce better not run late or anything. Would Charlie make her wait until he showed up to eat? Better not. Early worms got the bird. And surprise, surprise, she was the early one! So she got the first bite. She wondered how much she could get away with eating. Charlie would probably try and save some for Royce ...
Speak of the devil, that was him at the door now. Rosemary perked up, head swiveling toward the front door where Royce's tell-tale knocks were coming from. A quick glance to Charlie's oven clock told her that her brother was right on time. Exactly on time. He must have planned it. Or was coincidentally arriving right when he said he would.
Since it wasn't her house, it wasn't her job to answer the door. Charlie looked like she was on her way anyhow. But not before going to the fridge and taking out a familiar tub, setting it on the counter in front of her. Cookie dough? Before dinner? Hell yes! Wait, didn't Charlie say that she would make more cookies when the oven was free?
Well. The dinner was out of the oven so that meant it was free for cookie making, right? Right.
"Yeah, yeah, sure, I won't say anything," Rosemary waved off Charlie toward the door. She hadn't really planned on grabbing Royce and spilling out all the things that Charlie had said to her in the last hour but she did think it was interesting that Charlie asked her NOT to say anything. Not interesting enough for a second thought though because now she was removing a lump of cookie dough from the tub and splatting it on the cookie sheet that was propped up next to the oven. While the other two were distracted with each other, Rosemary decided to make her own cookies. She'd seen Royce do it a couple times. Couldn't be that hard. She flattened out the huge lump into one thin circle, and then, just to make things fun, made the big circle into several squares.
Square cookies. C'mon. How could that not be awesome?
