With Royce's back to the girl, he completely missed the explosion of color on Charlie's face. She stared at the back of Royce's head, then smiled down at the dandelion cup, fiddling with a flower, then even further down at the wolf hovering near her feet. Before he turned around, Charlie grinned at Abbey and pulled her fist toward her chest in a gesture of triumph-Woo hoo! He liked last night! He wants to do it again! YES!-quickly resuming her normal posture when the object of her glee turned back around.
"Umm, y-yeah! Sure! Anytime! I really enjoyed you guys' company, so just... let me know, and we can absolutely do it again." You and Rosemary can come again... or just Rosemary... or just you... "Sounds like a great idea."
"Aaaaand, I'll stop yammering now," she mumbled, addressing the flowers once more. There were enough plucked to form a pleasantly full bouquet in the small pen cup, and she sat them all in front of her desk, next to the bell. Dandelions weren't the prettiest of flowers, but they reminded her of summer- a nice thought considering it was nippy and slightly cloudy outside, promising rain later- so for the moment, she loved them.
Charlie's hand swept the remaining pens down into her top drawer, scooping up one that had fallen off the desk and into the shadows beneath.
Shadows, hmm? Oh, that's right!
"Hey, I nearly forgot to ask you!" Charlie said, spinning around. "I ran into... someone who said they knew you and Rosemary. Apparently a family friend? Do you know someone named Alexander Crowne?"
