"Your mama, maybe." It hadn't taken long for Mrs. Martinez to decide that Dallas and Rick belonged together. A point that she made abundantly clear every time they were in the same room together. She'd gotten used to that pretty quick, though, and Rick seemed either immune to her not-so-subtle hints, or completely oblivious to them.
Now that she thought about it, it was probably kind of weird that they'd never mentioned this before. Things had all fallen in to place when they weren't paying attention, though. Since she met Rick, she couldn't even recall going out with anyone else. And it wasn't that she hadn't been asked, because she had. Plenty of times. It had just never occurred to her that she might want to date someone other than him. Even if they'd never established that they were actually dating. "Hmmm. Probably." She grinned up at him, and gave him a nudge. "Unless you find some sweet little number to sweep you off your feet between now and then." If he did, she was going to get put away for murder. She'd be damned if she was going to let anyone else run off with him until she was done with him.
Or maybe you're in love with him.
She flinched. Will always saw way more than he let on. Until the absolute worst moment imaginable.
