Even if he hadn't been angry when he went to her room, he was slowly working his way up to it. His jaw twitched as he clenched his teeth together to try to keep from drowning out her explanation. Of course she hadn't been thinking. That was the only logical answer, wasn't it? She'd been emotional over getting stood up, and he'd been there instead of Stoner Boy, so she'd used him to get some feelings off of his chest. Why couldn't she just say so and move on?
Because he was being so damn cynical, her last statement floored him. "What?" Now he let go of her hand, and finally went back to his inside voice. "Are you fucking kidding? Don't say that." He dragged a hand down his face, trying to gather his racing thoughts, before shaking his head. "Christ, Kim. You could do so much better than some asshole like me. You deserve better. Don't....just don't."
