Elizabeth couldn’t remember ever being snowed in at the London Headquarters before. There had been a difficult weekend in one of the tiny offices in the Highlands once where she had been stuck during her Caretaker training, by the end of it she could understand the very thick Scottish brogue and could drink scotch like a pro. She wasn’t sure if tonight would be as educational, but it’d probably be bloody entertaining.
She’d left her office after making the announcement and went straight to the canteen. Most of the staff had already gone home, leaving the canteen abandoned apart from the coffee machine that was always switched on and ready to deliver a cup of incredibly strong and bitter coffee. Luckily, she knew enough about the canteen from practically living in her office to get the place up and running enough to hopefully make the rest of the staff feel more at ease with the situation.
The lights got switched on, brightening the room up, and then Elizabeth got to work. She went through the fridges to find enough food to hopefully keep everyone happy; a mixture of sandwiches, sweet things and other cold snacks, along with coffee, hot chocolate and a number of soft drinks. There were even some pizzas that someone could probably cook if people wanted them. All they really needed was some entertainment, but she was sure that someone would probably organise a game of charades or try to get the flatscreen TV from the media department. Whatever they decided, she would turn a blind eye to anything that wasn’t strictly policy.
After all, it wasn’t everyday she got to have a sleepover with her favourite people. Even if it did make her feel like a teenager all over again. As long as nobody made her gossip about boys it’d be fine.
