Who: David Roberts and Roz Reed
What: After a concert
When: Tuesday Night
Where: Seattle - Backstage at Neumos
Bonus: Music link!
It had been a good show. The sound system worked, nothing caught fire, and they had the crowd in their pocket. One song led smoothly into the next, the energy building with each one. He and Estrada went on with their usual inane banter and the audience ate it up, while Owen stood back and gave them the usual 'you're crazy' looks he'd been giving the two of them for years now. You'd think he'd be used to it, but some people never learned. Meanwhile, Ryan was mostly sober, lucid, kept the tempo, and actually kept his shirt on, which David thought was a major plus although presumably some of the girls in the audience disagreed.
He'd paid rather less attention to the girls in the audience than usual. It was safer for everyone that way, especially him, becuase Roz had come to the show tonight. He'd singled her out - in a way that bypassed sappy, went straight through obnoxious and came out the other side at something else entirely - dedicating a warped cover of a cheesy '80s love song to her. It was a nice moment until the drummer loudly demanded that he, "just shut up and play the fucking song, Loverboy!" Nice moments were overrated anyway.
After the show he found Roz waiting backstage. He was still running in high gear. It was hard to catch David in a better mood than after a good show. He grinned, brightly and genuinely, as soon as he saw her. "Hey babe. Did you have a good time?"
