Who: Alan Hall and his stalker Joey Walker
What: An unexpected meeting
When: Thursday Night
Where: Somewhere in New York City
So far it hadn't been a bad day. Things were starting to come together enough that it no longer seemed insane and impossible that they'd be ready to open in another two weeks. He'd found his script, stolen by another mischievous cast member. He'd managed to ransom it back for 67 cents, a subway pass, three sticks of chewing gum, and some lint. When rehearsal finally ended he went back to his hotel room and changed clothes.
Alan had it in his mind to go running. Not to keep in shape necessarily, although being fit and agile was never a bad thing, but simply becuase he'd been stuck sitting still for too long he was starting to go a bit crazy. Well, crazier. It might have been a better idea to go to the gym, he was less likely to get lost or hit by a cab that way, but being on a treadmill was just another version of standing still, only with sweat. That just wasn't going to cut it.
He turned down the street, just starting to pick up a pace and trying to ignore the odd sense that someone was watching him. Why would he think that? Had he seen something and not consciously picked up on it? Nah, he'd just ignore it. Well, not ignore it, but not worry about it. He'd still try to pay attention to his surroundings. Constant Vigilance a voice in his head pointed out in a very cheeky tone, and then laughed. He laughed too. Out loud. "Right." An old woman standing at the corner gave him a disgusted look. He gave her his best 'Hi, I'm not crazy really!' smile. She spat at him as he ran by. He'd forgotten how fun this city was.
