It wasn't as if Becca had any claim on their mutual friend, either, beyond the growing friendship--so she was feeling just as ridiculous that she would even think of viewing Mattie as a rival.
"Well," she said, "The story goes, Ruby was a human witch before she sold her soul in a bid for...something. Power, a cure for the plague, I'm not exactly sure--her motives are a little sketchy to me still--but anyway, from what I gather, she's pretty well versed in spells, herb-lore, scrying. Things like that. She knows how to perform--and to neutralize--hexes. She can hide her presence, and others, from magical detection. I think she might even be able to do some telekinetic stuff--but she leans toward kickboxing and hand-to-hand combat if it comes to blows."
Becca shrugged. "She's not above killing other demons, and she has the weapon that can do it. Unfortunately, it also kills the host, so I've got the box under lock and key--literally and metaphysically. The good thing is, she's kind of stuck with me, so we don't have to worry about her possessing anyone else to get her way...and I can also give you a list of her weaknesses just in case you ever need to keep me in check. So far, their effect on me has been mild, but enough of a deterrent that it might prove useful," she added, "Stop me if I'm going too fast."
