Clyde was tired. Damn tired, but it felt good. They'd stayed up way too long the night before, and he had gotten maybe an hour or so sleep before having to head back to work. He'd insisted that Mattie stay the night, sleep off the buzz - none but the strong of heart should attempt a MTN while intoxicated. That or the extremely stupid who like that sort of thing. Clyde knew his English colleague didn't.
So, she'd taken the bed, after Clyde changed the sheets. He got manners somewhere, if not a polite speech. He took the couch for the short time he slept. He tried to stay as quiet as possible showering and getting ready, and got out. He did still have to work.
He hadn't thought about her much during the day; he'd had other more important things to worry about, but as he was heading home, he remembered he had a guest, maybe, and picked up some food. Just some burgers and fries. Nothing special, but it was edible, to him anyway. Imagine his surprise when he saw that he still had a guest, but said guest was busy kicking the shit out of his walls.
"Mattie?" He didn't go closer, just stayed a few steps in from the front door.
