We are at a crossroads. This is not the road less taken, but the road trodden by those before us, one that must be taken by those after us. We must decide whether we want to leave the ground mired in blood or we wish to avoid fighting and settle it sensibly. We recognize that the "other side" has made many transgressions not only against our society but also against the world society. We recognize this, but we question if we should get involved. We feel strongly about fighting a good fight, but the "bad guys" do not feel the same, do not see the same.
I suppose what we are saying, Marshall and I are saying, is that we do not know where we stand. We want right, justice, and goodwill to survive, persevere, to see another day, but we are not certain we want to be part of some blood bath.
We need time and information. When the illness began, we would have jumped at this invitation, but we are thinking things over.
