Sarah giggled around the drum stick and then slapped the drum with her other hand when John told her to hit it, which just tickled another laugh from Emily. "Oh! She sleeps real good, has for a long while now, it's just that during the day she wants to chew on everything. Trying to get her out of the habit, though," she explained as she gently pulled the drum stick out of Sarah's mouth again.
Emily couldn't help but wonder if Connor was just being modest, but she wasn't going to poke at it. "Well, I can't see nothin' wrong with getting a piano if you want one." And if you could afford it, but she wasn't going to be adding that out loud. They were only living just a little better than paycheck to paycheck, so it wasn't something Emily could even begin to imagine dropping a bunch of money for, but she wasn't going to judge Connor for it if he did.
Glancing back at John, Emily nodded slightly. "Well, I can guarantee your pitch is a million times better than mine," she said with a teasing tone. They were professional musicians, so it would be pretty sad if he didn't.
