Sarah took the stick, but rather than follow John's lead and tap the drum, she promptly put it in her mouth and chewed on it. Emily tsked, shaking her head and reaching out to gently pull Sarah's hand away from her mouth, bringing the stick out and down with it. "It's not for eating, sweety. Look, hit it here," she instructed, guiding Sarah's hand to tap the stick against the drum. It didn't make too discernible a sound, and Sarah whined and jerked the stick back to her mouth.
Emily glanced up and smiled at Connor. "Thank you," she said, taking the coke, enjoying the way his fingers lingered against hers. "Ooh, I didn't know ya played the violin too," she said, though she wasn't actually hugely surprised by that. There was a lot she was sure she didn't know about him yet. "I don't know, not so sure every ear can be trained. You're just one of the lucky ones that have a natural ear for it." Sometimes she wistfully wished she had an ear for music, but it wasn't something she dwelled on. At least she could enjoy listening to music.
