The kiss to her cheek was so sweet and adorable, and Emily knew that her cheeks tinged pink at it. A part of her wanted to catch his lips in a real kiss, but she was hardly a teenager. It would be rude in current company, and she didn't particularly want any looks or teasing that might come their way for it. And she was still trying to keep an eye on Sarah, who seemed to be completely enamored with the drummer. During the song, she'd been clearly focused on the drums, flapping her arms in excitement as she bounced her legs in a little dance. Now that the song was over, she was slapping an incoherent beat on the drum, beaming up at John.
Connor's complaining just made the girls laugh more, and Emily shook her head at him, trying to contain her laughter. "Mmhmm, sure they are," she said, clearly amused and disbelieving about it. "Sure, I'll take a water or coke, whichever," she answered as she stood up and went over to where John and Sarah were still playing with the drums.
"Looks like you've made yourself a pint-sized friend," she observed with a grin, squatting down to get to Sarah's level. "You like the drums, sweetheart?" she asked her daughter, her own smile widening when Sarah beamed up at her and made giggling-babbling noises.
