"Do the duet, Connor. It'll be more fun since none of us get to do it a lot," Colby urged. They had a few female artists they worked with on occasion, but no one that was consistent like some bands seemed to have.
"I didn't write it for me to sing. I wrote it for Brett," Connor said, frowning faintly. He'd been going to suggest that Colby sing it, actually.
Colby shrugged slightly. "You've always had a the nicer voice. No, I'm not insulting Brett," he said soothingly, cutting off the protest before it could begin. "Even he knew it. He just knew how to work the spotlight best."
John aborted the nascent angsty moment by grabbing the notebook from Connor's hand, making him squawk with mock indignation as the other man flipped through the pages til he found what looked to him like the duet and handed it over to Marla. Connor rolled his eyes at the drummer before trning to speak to her.
"There's the lyrics and the notations for chords under them," he said, fingers curling again around the neck of his guitar. "The actual music is written on the next sets of pages, but basically, this is your melody," he said and demonstrated by picking it out on his guitar. "Mine goes about like so," he added, and demonstrated it as well.
