Connor chuckled warmly at Marla's obvious excitement. They three were quick on the pick up, after so many years of practice, though he'd indicated to them the key (though Colby could do that by ear too) and who should attempt what part. "We don't mind, Marla," he said. "Could probably be improved with practice and work with the back up parts, but for impromptu, it sounded really good." And it really had. It could take anywhere from a few minutes to days and days to work something out, though, as they well knew from experience. A few of the songs had been worked like that, and a few had been bickered and fought over for months until they compromised on everything they wanted in a piece to get the most out of it.
"Besides, it challenges us," Colby told her. "Not that Connor here doesn't make us work for it sometimes too." His smile was good-natured, though, even if he wasn't a composer by nature, he was someone who enjoyed playing with his part at times.
John's fingers tapped out a beat--from her song--idly on the body of the guitar. "Probably take a day or two of workin' it out, to find something you wanted. It's original to you, yes?" he said astutely, voicing what the entire group had figured out. "You'll be recording it among some others, I'm assuming?"
