"Well I look forward to meetin' her, then," Emily said genuinely.
There was a story behind those words, but Emily was much too polite to ask John about it, and not even only because she'd just met the guy. People's past relationships were their own business, and you just didn't go around poking them about it. "That's real lucky for you," was all she said on the matter.
When John crouched down next to her, Sarah looked at him and giggled, holding the drum stick out to the man before pulling it right back in, causing Emily to laugh and sit back again, content for now at least to let John interact with her baby girl. "Keep away - you're now engaged in her favorite game!" she informed John. Glancing at Connor again, she smiled reassuringly. "Now how's that supposed to make me not worry? She'll be fine, I just don't want her ruinin' your things." She really wasn't worried about the germs. Sarah had a solid immune system, and besides, ordinary everyday germs were good for building the immune system up.
Marla laughed at Colby's chirping, coming into the room just in time to hear Connor's question. "He ain't up to nothin', it's me ya gotta worry 'bout," she teased, winking at the couple sitting oh-so-close on the couch.
