John and Colby had arrived around lunch time and they'd spent most of that time talking and hanging out. Colby had set up a couple of gaming systems on Connor's TV in the living room, so they often played or took turns. It eased what was otherwise a bit of an emotional thing, even for the men. John was the only smoker, but he kept it to only every so often in the backyard, and so Connor could live with it.
He'd ordered some pizzas and stuff for this evening, and made sure there were plenty of things to nibble on. The guys had been impressed with how far along his music room had come, and they were definitely going to spend some time down there, though they could jam out anywhere in the house so long as they could grab a keyboard and a simple set of drums. Though both could play guitar when they wanted to, and he had a feeling John might do that. Connor was looking forward to this evening, and the guys were interested in who he'd invited. He'd already told them about Marla, and he'd of course mentioned Emily, though he'd yet to mention any change in that friendship to his friends. He didn't know exactly how they'd handle tonight, but he was sure they'd think of something.
Even if he did want to kiss her again.
At least, he thought, he'd probably be meeting her daughter tonight, and he considered that important. He had given the guys a heads up about that too, and Dana, who said she was going to try to cut her study group short because she wanted to join them for a bit.
There was a knock at the door, and as Colby was closest, he strolled over there to open it. He was shorter than Connor by a bit, and slimly built, with black hair and a pair of striking blue eyes that girls tended to coo over. "Hallo there," he greeted them with a grin. There was a still-healing cut on his forehead into his hairline, and he wore a wrist brace on one hand. "Come on in. I'm Colby," he told them.
