His arms closed easily around her, and he felt better for being able to comfort her. She was soft, and warm, and he finally had to admit to himself that he wanted to be more than just friends with the woman as her scent filled his senses. He was rapidly developing a crush on his neighbor, and he wasn't entirely sure any advances would be welcome, despite her ease in his arms right now.
He raised a hand and gently stroked it over her hair, chin resting lightly against her temple. "I wouldn't hold it against you," he said softly. "Everyone has moments sometimes. And I promise I'll try not to take anything personally." And once she'd said something on this, he'd realized it wasn't really his fault, even if he felt bad about it. It was a matter of realizing it.
