Connor wondered what had happened to her, to trigger her into tears so inadvertently. There were suspicions, of course, but he couldn't be for sure. He did feel awful for saying something that upset her, though. His hand reached out to her but he didn't touch, lowering it after a moment. "I am sorry," he murmured quietly. He slipped back to give her more space despite wanting to give her a hug, and he wished he knew where he could fetch her a handkerchief from. "I didn't mean to trigger you or upset you." His apology was genuine and heartfelt.
