She hid her soft giggle behind her hand at that. Goodness but that pout was cute, and she really needed to not think things like that. He was her neighbor and would make a great friend, and she just wasn't sure she felt brave enough to even consider anything more than that. "You'll get the hang of it, just gonna take some practice," she assured him. "Aww, you made over here on your own just fine," she couldn't help but tease him lightly again.
"Oh, please!" Emily said, rolling her eyes. She didn't believe for one minute that he was an old man. "How old are you?" she asked expectantly. She would be twenty-eight in just a couple months, and she highly doubted he was too much older than her.
The answer was nowhere near what she'd been anticipating, and she had just been thinking about how long he'd had his cast on, so it didn't take much to connect the dots. "Oh!" she exclaimed quietly, eyes showing a sad kind of sympathy. She began to reach out toward him, but lost her nerve halfway there, and she just dropped her hand against the back of the couch a bit awkwardly. "I'm so sorry. Was it... the wreck?" she asked, nodding toward his leg.
