RP: Musical Identity When: Friday October 26, 2012 Character/Pairing: Emily and Connor Rating: Likely PG Warnings: None, but tbd Summary: Connor drops something off for Emily.
Connor had thought long and hard on how to tell Emily who he was. It wasn’t easy, considering he’d come here hoping to remain anonymous, but really… he liked her. He liked her enough to contemplate asking her out in addition to just getting to know her as a friend. He wasn’t in a hurry, though. It was enough stress to tell her without thinking about anything like that yet.
Perhaps it was cowardly, but he was having trouble finding a way to tell her face to face. He knew he’d stumble and mumble and probably end up sounding like a pompous ass, and he really didn’t want to do that. But he’d come across the idea of giving her a bunch of his music, and if he gave her the official CDs… well, surely she’d recognize him from that. If not, well, he’d definitely point it out then.
He had a good sized stack—all of the No Reservation CDs to date, as well as a few singles and a couple of general recordings and a few of the little jingles he’d gotten out—stuff she would probably still recognize but wasn’t generally known.
He felt he was trusting a lot, doing this. She could tell everyone. But it was Emily, and everything he knew about Emily said she wouldn’t.
But still. Scary. Probably more than it should be.
He put them all in a little canvas bag he found tucked away somewhere—Dana’s, probably—and headed across the street to her place. He knocked, wondering what he’d do if he ran into her mother, but after a moment, no one answered, and he tried again. He had thought she would be home by now, but there was a good chance that her mother had met her for dinner or something with her little girl. He felt a pang of disappointment, but sighed and went back for a paper and a pen and left a note on top of the top most CD, hanging the bag on the doorknob.
Dear Emily,
These are some CDs of stuff I’ve done. I thought you might like to listen to them. I’m sorry to have missed you! I’ll talk to you later.
Connor
He made sure nothing would blow away and headed back to the house, hoping she wouldn’t be upset with him or anything.
