Connor snorted as she flattered him, chuckling slightly into his cooling coffee. "Nah, you can listen and critique and strangle Colby when he starts to act up," he told Emily. "Colby's fun to strangle. He makes all sorts of outrageous noises. And don't worry about work... they'll be here for at least a week, so we'll have plenty of time to make sure it lines up right. Colby might even be moving down here for awhile." They needed to hash out a new status quo, a new game plan; they would need to do a new album, too.
He watched the friendly byplay with a faint grin, even if he felt a pang at the emotional reminder that Brett was gone, and he would never get that with the other man again.
"No worries," Connor told her. "I understand the responsiblity thing. But we all gotta have some fun, too." He kept reminding himself of that. "We'll figure somethin' out." But he really did want her to make it, something he wasn't looking at too hard yet other than he was intrigued by her and wanted to get to know her.
