Marla blew out a breath at that, thinking that words just couldn't express how incredible what he was offering was to her. "I'll give it a couple days. Probably gonna need that to talk coherently again," she joked, winking at Connor. She would be professional, no matter when she did contact his agent, but she couldn't deny that it would take quite a bit of effort. "Nothin' good's ever easy," she pointed out with a bit of a smirk, clearly up to whatever challenges that life might bring her.
When Emily rejoined them, Marla smiled at her, about to answer when Connor beat her to the punch. "That's right, he did, and how's a girl to turn down such a handsome face," she teased, winking at her friend. "And you should come along, too, it'll be fun!" she insisted.
Emily laughed lightly, shaking her head in amusement not refusal. "You two, what have I started introducin' y'all?" she joked. "That sounds fun, so long as y'all don't want me to get in on it. I'll just have to check and make sure I don't have to work-"
"Oh my God, Em. It's not gonna ruin everything if you skive off once in a while," Marla interrupted, rolling her eyes in a way that said it was an old debate between them.
Emily tore off a piece of napkin, balled it up and threw it at Marla. "And if I do that, how're the bills gonna get paid?" she said, ignoring the way Marla parroted the words along with her. She wrinkled her nose at Marla and stuck her tongue out before turning her attention to Connor. "Sorry. She likes to give me a hard time for bein' a responsible adult."
