Emily's expression turned sympathetic when he explained about having been in an accident. "I'm so sorry! But this is as good a place as any to heal up," she said in a knowing tone, smile soft and with the faintest tinges of sadness around the edges. She'd come here to heal, and she'd ended up building a life for herself here.
She stopped at the curb near his driveway just as another girl came out. She recognized her vaguely, and waved at her like she was sure she'd have done at least once before. "Brill? Yes, I've met Brill. She's very nice." She made a little 'ahh' sound when he explained who Dana was. "Well I'd gather not, with your ankle in a cast and all. I'm Emily, by the way," she introduced herself, though she didn't offer a hand, still far enough away that he wouldn't have been able to take it without moving closer anyway. "But you oughtta give yourself a break, and I'm sure she'll find all sorts of heavy things for you move around and sort out once doing so won't do ya more damage," she added, tone encouraging as it was clear in his expression that he wasn't pleased with having his cousin unloading his things.
