Mandy yelped as Terrence's fist slammed into Terry's face, knocking him out. She knew she should do something to help him, but she was frozen in shock and fear. She shouldn't be there, shouldn't be involved in whatever was going on, and she didn't know what to do to stop it.
The blow to her face shocked her to her core, causing tears to prick her eyes. She screamed when he bent her hand back, weakening her grip on her wand, and she finally let it go, unable to bear the pain any longer. She bounced against the wall when he pushed her against it, wincing at the sharp pain at the back of her head.
When he turned back to her after locking the door, she felt her survival instincts kicking in. She tried to run across the room to the window. She knew that a fall out of it would hurt, badly, but it wouldn't kill her, and that's what was most important. She didn't even make it five steps before his hand was on the back of her robes, pulling her back and against him. His arms locked her in place, and the tears spilled out of her eyes as he yanked her hair, twisting her neck.
His low words so close to her ear sent a disturbed chill down to her toes. She wanted to suggest he let her go, but she was certain that it was a rhetorical question and he'd only hurt her more if she dared suggest it, so she stayed silent. She couldn't stop the tears or her body from shuddering in his vile embrace.
She could only pray that he wouldn't kill her to protect himself.
