Mandy walked away from Terry, leaving that part of her life behind her for good now. She was ready, completely, to move on now, to fully embrace her future without him in it. And then he said her name, his voice full of such anguish that she stopped in her tracks, her eyes filling with tears.
She knew she should keep walking, but she couldn't. She was frozen in her tracks, all of her memories of their years at Hogwarts together rushing to the forefront of her mind, reminding her of what she was walking away from.
After what seemed like an eternity, she turned, but he wasn't there anymore. She scanned around the quiet street, finally spotting him about to enter a building, his shoulders hunched forlornly. Before she could think to stop herself, she was running after him. He had a head start on her, so when she entered the building behind him, he was already up the stairs and turning a corner. She should have called out to him, but her throat was stuck.
In the hall around the corner, she saw a door close and assumed that it must be Terry's. She raised her hand to knock, but before her knuckles hit the wood, she heard a crash from with in.
"Terry?" she shouted, pulling out her wand and opening the door.
