Pansy had offered to help Theo in the store today, keeping an eye on Peter and restocking shelves so that he could work on his bookkeeping and inventory.
Peter was having a great time running back and forth from the shelves and the cart with the books waiting to be stocked. He was already so smart, she was so proud of him.
"P'itty!" Peter exclaimed, tugging on her robes. She chuckled at the name he'd chosen for her all those months before as she scooped him up. She kissed him on the tip of his nose, eliciting the sweetest sound in the world, a child's giggles.
Because he started wiggling, she let Peter down, though he plopped down by her feet and started playing with the books on the bottom shelf. A moment later she felt the hand on her arm and heard the greeting.
Pansy turned, and it took her a moment to recognize the girl. "Milli?" she asked, shocked. The face was so similar, but she was so thin now. This was not the girl who'd left a year and a half ago. She hugged the other girl in a friendly, familiar way.
"How have you been?" she asked. "When did you get back?" They hadn't been the closest of friends at Hogwarts, but they had always been friends.
