Brian had worked very hard to get to where he was. He'd gone with the bare minimum right out of secondary school, during those first few years of University. He had a strong appreciation for what he had, never forgetting what it was like to live without.
His eyes followed the chopsticks, the image of him leaning up and pulling the fortune cookie from between them flickered through his mind, though he resisted temptation for the moment.
"It has it's moments," he said, his lips quirking up. "I like the stability and routine of it all." It may have sounded like an absent comment, but it was rooted so deep in him, that need for stability, and he didn't anticipate opening up as to why that was.
