Kay wished he had something else to fidget with, but he knew better than to mess more with the makeup because it was good enough now. Just because he was nervous was no reason to fuck it up.
He watched Natalie, the action more soothing than almost anything else could have been. "As ready as I'll ever be," Kay said, trying not to dread meeting Natalie's people. What if they didn't like her?
"Lead on, mon cher," Kay said, giving her a smile to cover up the fluttering in his stomach that, for once, had nothing to do with desire.
He followed Natalie out, tucking his hand into the woman's for a moment for strength and comfort. He knew that he at least wouldn't have to hide their relationship, which was almost something of a relief, but he still couldn't help being on edge about it all.
