It never failed please him the way she always seemed to know exactly how to touch him or when he just needed her to be with him. He loved that she always seemed to know exactly when to talk or when to just hold him. He loved her; he loved her more than anyone else in the world.
He kissed the top of her head lightly, a gesture meant to comfort and reassure. He couldn't help the way his heart dropped when she admitted that she did want them both. He was selfish, he wanted her all to himself, but now he knew that she wouldn't leave Ethan for him, not when Ethan was so much more willing to give her what she wanted.
His eyes closed in pain at her question. "I don't know," he answered her honestly. It was true, he really didn't know. His world had been turned turned inside out the last few days. He didn't know what he felt anymore, except what he felt for Amy. Could he give her what she wanted, though? Could he be okay with Ethan loving her, too? Could he find some way to be with both of them?
He didn't know the answers. All he knew was that he couldn't just walk away from her. No matter how hard it might be, he would have to try to see if this could work. He loved Amy enough for that.
