Mandy was nineteen years old and enjoying life as well as she could. She had a successful portraiting business, several very close friends, but there was one thing she didn't have: a love life. She'd had plenty of opportunity to date, but had always felt too shy when it came to actually dating to do so. She enjoyed being around people and could often be found at clubs, dancing the night away, but she always ended up going home alone.
The truth was, she was tired of going home alone. She wanted to experience new things, take a real risk. So, she promised herself that tonight she would not hold back. If she found someone she was attracted to, she would let things progress. Tonight could be the night that Mandy's life would really change, and she couldn't wait to see what would happen. After all, Paris was the city of love, right?
She chose her outfit carefully, and being the niece of a prominent designer in both the muggle and magical worlds meant she had plenty to choose from. She picked a sexy little black dress, left her hair down, and decided to forgo jewelry. The diamonds on the dress would sparkle enough. She applied minimal make-up, then left to go to the club she'd heard her aunt's assistant talking about the night before after the show.
She danced, finding the beat of the music to be seductive and alluring. She moved through the crowd, with the crowd, her hips swaying in time with the music. After a little while, she headed to the bar, wanting a drink but knowing better than to take one offered on the floor. She ordered her drink, then grinned at the man who moved to stand next to her at the bar.
He was tall, slim, dark hair, light brown eyes—definitely attractive. Unfortunately, she did not see herself as adept at the art of flirting, though, and found herself hoping he would talk to her.
