Well, at least she was focusing on a woman and not about to out him to possibly the only person that didn't know he swung both ways--Nathan. It was the one thing he couldn't bring himself to do because their relationship was finally good again.
Nathan's thumb soothed back and forth across her thigh where it rested mostly innocently. He looked at her as she spoke, curious as to why she said it because just meeting her had caused him to change.
But what she said made sense, he found. He never had been that man he'd been before with her. She'd started out seeing him a certain way, and he'd loved it and tried to actually be that person she saw whenever she looked at him.
"It's the man I want to be," he said simply, capturing her lips in a brief kiss. Ferrol just smiled faintly.
"I'm just glad you did change, brother," Ferrol said sincerely. "I was concerned for you for quite awhile." He hadn't approved of a lot of what his brother had indulged in over the years, especially during the war, and it had started to affect their friendship around the time Peter was born. Things were getting better now, though.
