"Hmm, I didn't really struggle with it as far as I can remember. I knew how to read and write fairly well by the time I was six, though," she answered Ferrol's question with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
She chuckled at Nathan's response. "I prefer it, too," she admitted, with a somewhat sappy grin.
Mandy's head tilted against Nathan's shoulder as Ferrol seemed to consider her question. His answer, though, caused her to frown, her heart to sigh sadly. "Don't sell yourself short, Ferrol. You have a lot to offer the right girl."
She knew Ferrol had an amazing sense of humor, but she also knew he had a more serious side of him that people rarely got to see. She hoped, though, that he would be able to find someone special. "My point was, though, that the past shouldn't rule our futures. Everyone makes mistakes. As long as you grow and learn from them, they don't belong anywhere but the past."
