Mandy hadn't meant to hear what her husband (the thought still caused her lips to stretch into a huge smile) and brother-in-law were discussing, but she'd heard her name and couldn't help the curiosity.
Mandy changed a lot of things for me. The words sent a feeling of warm peace through her, knowing that she had been the one to help her husband move on from his dark past, to change him though that had never been her intent. She loved that she meant enough for him to want to change.
She was about to walk away when she heard Ferrol speak up again. The words, the question was formed carefully, curious but not pushy. She probably shouldn't have kept listening—she didn't question Nathan's honesty, at all, but she couldn't help but wonder what he would tell Ferrol.
At Nathan's answer, Mandy let out the breath she hadn't known she'd been holding and closed her eyes. Her hands folded against her heart. Even though she hadn't doubted Nathan's honesty, it felt so good to have it reaffirmed. She considered just slipping away, but quickly decided against it. For whatever reason, she wanted them to know she'd heard.
She tapped on the door, then pushed it open. Leaning against the doorjamb, she smiled at her husband and brother-in-law. "Mind if I join you?" she asked, a significant look in her eyes.
